The Role of Emotions in Sorcery

Emotion isn't the enemy of good spellwork. It's the fuel. But raw fuel burns the wrong things — here's how to aim it.

Feeling is the current

Cold, correct ritual does very little. Emotion is the current that runs the working — grief, fury, desperate love, they carry more charge than any incense. The mistake beginners make isn't feeling too much. It's letting the feeling steer.

Aim, don't suppress

You don't banish the anger before a working. You point it. Name what you feel, name what you want, and hold the two together until the emotion is doing work instead of running loose. A protective ward set in real fear is stronger than one set in none — if the fear is aimed at the doorframe and not at yourself.
